What is it about jogging that attracts people to take to their heels and start running Well that is simple to answer because we all know that this type of exercise is for people who want to keep in shape/trim and most important of all be healthy and fit. Joggers start running for a lot of different reasons. There are those on a mission and want to lose weight. Then we have those that like to train for various athletic programs. Marathons and fund raising events.
When starting out on your first jog make sure you are prepared mentally as well physically. Make sure your clothing is appropriate this will make your run a comfortable one. It is a good idea to map out before hand where your run is to take place. Start by walking then lead up to a faster pace until you reach the steady canter of which you are comfortable with. Running and jogging can without a doubt put a little stress on the body especially if the body has not been used to physical exertion as such, that famous stands for jogging (don’t run before you can walk) let your body adjust slowly. As long as you are up to it and have no health matters to worry over then you can walk as far as you want – there is not set distance. Distances will differ between people, you will have those that keep to a time – say like walking for fifteen minutes etc or then you have those that like to do a daily run of two miles etc. Walkers and joggers don`t normally talk about speed. Speed is about the distance you travel in at a specified time. This can be dangerous because speed motivates one to go faster and that can be disastrous leading to injury. So instead of speed, runners are inclined to talk about pace. Average walking is a usually a pace of approximately about 20 minutes per mile (referred to as a pace out of 20). The typical walker may have a pace of 15-20. Remember to take it is easy and walk at your own pace. Each and everyone before going on a run should be aware that the body needs some form of light exercise to warm up before hand and vice or versa giving the body some attention after your appointment is over with the outside world. Cool down with once again a little exercise after the workout. Are you fit enough to go jogging you have to ask your self, if you are not sure talk to your doctor and he/she can put you straight on exercises as such. |
